16 recirculation pumps and 9 return sludge pumps for WWTP in Berlin
As part of a renovation program, the waterworks of Berlin (BWB) replace the tank lines 6-8 at the wastewater treatment plant of Waßmannsdorf (Berlin Schönefeld). The core of the building improvements are 6 elbow pumps type RPGA 601 LB6.1, delivered by Schachtbau Nordhausen. Per each tank line are two of these Egger axial pumps in diameter DN 600 in use which replace one old vertical pump DN 700. The elbow pumps with their fiber-repellent wastewater profile are successfully in use since mid-July 2012. The operational reliability of the plant could be increased significantly by the splitting the recirculation current through two pumps. Each of the frequency controlled Egger pumps transports 1100-3200 m3/h activated sludge at a discharge head from 0.9 to 4.3 m. The casing of the pump is made of cast iron GGG40 with a Rilsan® coating. The propellers are made of stainless steel 1.4404.

Furthermore, 9 vertical Egger Process Pumps of type EOS 8-250 V6 for return sludge are in operation. With the following renovation stages, 15 more identical pumps will assure the handling of the return sludge at the WWTP of Waßmannsdorf.
